I wanted to help students feel successful with math which can be intimidating for some. I graduated from the University of Texas in December of 2005. In June of 2006 I moved to California to start my career teaching ESL/Language Arts/Social Studies to 7th and 8th graders in Gilroy, CA. In my 4th year of teaching I transitioned into teaching 6th/7th Math and Algebra 1. I taught Algebra 1 for 3 years in San Jose, CA then I moved home to Texas. I have been teaching math at Reagan since coming home. This is my 13th year in the classroom, and my students are still, by far, the best part of my job.
Algebra 1 is all about training your brain to be a problems solver. We practice math everyday and work on recognizing patterns because that is what mathematicians do.
Transition to College Math is a course designed for college bound seniors who are likely to major in a non-STEM field. We focus less on a calculus track and more on a stats track.
